How do you integrate technology into your teaching

The old school style of education is now altogether out of date. Today, with the accelerated rise and enjoyment of technology by everyone from around the globe, the way pupils are being instructed and educated is adapting and increasingly more schools and places of higher learning are incorporating technology into the classroom.

Now with students always plugged in or wired to some form of technology, our classrooms have to keep up by using technology, computers, and the internet to supplement every day classroom activities and plans. The ultimate goal when bringing technology in the classrooom and your teaching plans is to make the lessons as attractive as possible to students, aid them retain the information quickly, and engage their involvement and fascination in a subject or lesson.

Putting the PC to Use

Given research dictates that pupils will keep more cognition when some form of computer based education is contributed to the learning process. They take less take to progress through chapters or lessons and can retain more data. Using the internet for online research can also be very useful. Most scholars use the internet day-to-day to search for and find facts and information on things that interest them If you walk you students through how to use search engines correctly and how to verify that the sources they have are accurate, the internet can become an invaluable learning resource for your classroom.

Using Multimedia

Using multimedia platforms such as power point allows educators to introduce examples that reach all students by addressing both visual and auditory learners. Many computers come with multimedia software package, so your classroom pc probably has some kind of presentation software. You can allow students to take advantage of these programs to create projects and presentations that contain both visual aids and text.
Bringing multimedia into your lessons presents a great chance of pace from the usual chalkboard based lesson or overhead projector. You can increase student involvement, interest, and enjoyment of your lesson and the content being taught.

Interactive e-books

Ebooks are electronic copies of books that be downloaded to your computer and read online. Many E-books come with video, audio, text, and images making them more attractive to students than their boring old textbook counterparts. For example, say you are teaching a biology class and need a project for your students. Students love to use technology to create things. You can have them create their own ebooks. Have them research a topic online, download a few ebooks for example and reference, then create their own using images, video, audio, and text if possible.

Videos

Now, if you want to assign your students a very exciting and dynamic project, then you may consider movie making as it will combine technology with theatre arts, writing and reading. And your students themselves have to research the topic of their choice and then film their movie.

You can also opt for podcast performances, blogging and creating an interactive class room website.

We should always be looking at ways to update and change the way we teach as the ways students learn changes over time. By incorporating technology, we are giving every student a change to learn at the highest levels and with the greatest amount of resources available to them.
